I like to keep my fingernails long. I’ve had long nails since I was 13, and I'd never be without them. For as long as I can remember (back to the age of 5/6) I wanted to have long nails. I always keep them very clean (I clean them twice a day) and have a professional manicure every two weeks. I wear clear polish on them. I don't understand the antipathy that a lot of people have towards men with long nails. In some Asian cultures it's very acceptable for men to grow (very) long nails. At present, my nails are only about one quarter of an inch from the fingertip but I intend to grow them much, much longer (really, really long) when I retire - much longer than I let them grow when I was a student, which was about one inch.
