I like to keep my fingernails long. I’ve had long nails since I was 13, and I'd never be without them. For as long as I can remember (back to the age of 5/6) I wanted to have long nails. I always keep them very clean (I clean them twice a day) and have a professional manicure every two weeks. I wear clear polish on them. I don't understand the antipathy that a lot of people have towards men with long nails. In some Asian cultures it's very acceptable for men to grow (very) long nails. At present, mine are about 1/4-inch from the fingertip but I intend to grow them really, really long when I retire - much longer than I grew them when I was a student, which was about one inch.
