Beaver Lamb

This site is dedicated to that wonderful “utility” fur that had its heyday in the 1950s - beaver lamb.

Contrary to what many people think, beaver lamb is not beaver fur. It is lambskin that has been sheared, dyed and treated - glazed - to make it resemble sheared beaver, hence the name. In the USA and Canada beaver lamb is called mouton.

The colours range from dark brown, through chestnut/mahogany to leopard print with collars in various colours. There are also “shadow beaver lamb” coats, also known as “phantom beaver lamb” coats.
