A lot of people ask me about how I care for my furs.
Storage
Furs should be stored in a dry, cool, uncramped environment that is away from direct heat source. They should not be wrapped in plastic bags, bin-liners or dry-cleaner’s wrappings - or indeed in anything plastic! They must be allowed to breath and be kept free of dust. The best type of cover to use is a breathable cotton coat or dress bag, in which the coat can be hung on a good quality, sturdy, wide-shouldered hanger.
Don’t let other clothing press up against the fur, as this will cause the nap to crush.
If you store the coat in plastic for any length of time, it will cause the pelt to dry out and crack.
Cleaning
Have your furs cleaned regularly by a professional furrier. There is no substitute for this. It can be quite expensive (shop around) but is worth it, if you want to look after your precious furs.
